A Year of Impact: Sustainable Development Empowering Communities and Team Members
As we reflect on 2024, it’s a year defined by progress, collaboration, and a commitment to making sustainable impacts, building on our history of foundational programming.
From advancing STEM education and career development to supporting communities through innovative programs, Toyota has worked alongside community organizations and partners to drive meaningful change.
Our efforts to foster a culture of Respect for People and strengthen our communities showcase the power of collective action and the limitless possibilities ahead. This year’s initiatives not only reflect our core values but also underscore our dedication to a future where everyone can thrive.
STEM Education & Career Development
At Toyota, we are committed to preparing today’s youth for the careers of tomorrow with a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. As technological advances continue to shape the workforce, it’s vital that we equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
Our support goes beyond financial contributions alone; we provide knowledge and resources, and team members actively volunteer and mentor, such as through the E3 Mentoring Program. And with “Principal for a Day,” we practice “genchi genbutsu” (go and see) to work with community members to truly understand opportunities and barriers, ensuring partnerships are authentic and impactful.

Community Development
Community development means much more than just a contribution. At Toyota, it's about actively engaging with community members to create meaningful, sustainable change—helping provide mobility for all, whether that means physical mobility, economic opportunity, or access to essential resources.
By leveraging know-how to help Meals on Wheels enhance efficiency with a mobile app, or supporting families affected by traumatic brain injuries through grants from the Way Forward Fund, we aim to make a real difference where it's needed most.
With our longstanding Walk in My Boots program, we’ve collaborated with dealerships to provide cold weather boots and socks to families in need, helping ensure that everyone has what they need to move forward.
Check out a few of these highlights below, including how our BPGs also connect with community organizations to integrate team member development:
- Toyota helps increase efficiency and reach of VNA Meals on Wheels with new mobile app
- The Way Forward Fund Partnered with Driscoll Children’s Hospital to Improve Care for Kids
- Inclusion Means Everyone
- Grants to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) to help address local mobility challenges
- Toyota Works with Salvation Army to Provide Food, Boots and Socks
A Culture of Respect for People
We believe our strength is in our people. Our culture thrives when team members can bring their whole, authentic selves to work.
This year, our Business Partnering Groups (BPGs) have been instrumental in creating spaces for growth, connection, and career development, all while reinforcing our core value of Respect for People.
Together, we’re building a culture where every individual is valued and empowered to contribute to our collective success.
Long-Term Community Programs
With limitless possibilities ahead, our commitment to advancing communities remains as strong as ever.
In 2024, we made significant strides—offering scholarships through Boys & Girls Clubs, improving home rebuilding efforts to reunite families after disasters, and partnering with the National Urban League to address disparities, to name a few.
