For families struggling to put food on the table, the holiday season can be a stressful time—especially for those whose children rely on school meals and lose access during breaks.

To help address this challenge, the Toyota Lexus Minority Owners Dealership Association (TLMODA) dedicated its 4th Annual Day of Service to stocking the pantries of families experiencing food insecurity during the 2023 Thanksgiving holidays.

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, Toyota and Lexus minority dealers in 33 U.S. communities distributed a total of 3,400 grocery boxes filled with nonperishable food items to feed a family of four for one week.

TLMODA Day of Service Impact:

To ensure this massive effort went off without a hitch, TLMODA teamed up once again with The Salvation Army, whose collaboration has been integral to the coordination of previous TLMODA Days of Service.

“The Salvation Army is grateful for the partnership with TLMODA. This partnership to distribute food boxes lets our communities know that we care about families in need and we will not let them go hungry.”

National Commander of The Salvation Army

Local Salvation Army chapters provided invaluable assistance by identifying families in need and encouraging them to pick up grocery boxes at their nearby dealership. Additionally, a central Salvation Army team packed and assembled the boxes in accordance with safety guidelines.

With its collaborative and far-reaching approach, the Day of Service exemplifies the mission of TLMODA, which was formed in 2001 to help Toyota and Lexus's minority dealers drive excellence for their businesses and communities.

“As an organization, we are committed to helping those in the communities where we live and do business. We welcome the opportunity to ensure no child or family in our communities goes hungry this holiday season,” said Jim Colon, president of TLMODA and co-owner of Marysville Toyota in Marysville, Washington.
