Toyota’s inclusive culture is key to fostering the innovation that will allow us to realize mobility for all. Each year, Toyota’s Business Partnering Groups (BPGs) and other programs coordinate a variety of events designed to inspire, engage and connect team members.

 


 

AAC Celebrates 20 Years of Inclusive Leadership

In 2022, the African American Collaborative (AAC) reached a huge milestone: 20 years strong as a Toyota BPG that highlights inclusion, connections and engagement. With a return to in-person activities in 2023, events celebrating the anniversary included a leadership luncheon, founders panel and networking reception.

 

Mosaic in Canada

 Mosaic and TMMC partnered with D+I to host Japan in a Suitcase. Team members from Toyota Motor Corporation shared their experiences adapting to Canada while on assignment from Japan.

 

TERRA Spreads Seeds of Hope for Threatened Wildlife

TMMC's chapter of TERRA (Toyota Environmental Resources for Responsible Actions) spread 180 packets of wildflower seed mix over four acres to aid the survival of the Eastern meadowlark, a threatened species that plays an important role in the ecosystem by eating insects harmful to crops.

Pollinator Gardens Educate Team Members and Fuel Biodiversity at Toyota Kentucky

TERRA members at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) championed the addition of
a second pollinator garden at TMMK’s facilities to expand wildlife refuge space and create more
opportunities for team members to connect with nature. Pollinator gardens support biodiversity
(one of the pillars of Toyota’s environmental sustainability commitment) by creating a natural
habitat for birds, bees and other animals. TMMK’s gardens also include interactive signage
designed to educate and engage team members so that everyone can learn new ways of
enjoying and caring for the environment.

 


TAASiA Symposium Elevates Unity and Storytelling

The TAASiA Symposium brought together 375+ TAASiA members across five chapters to celebrate the beauty of diversity, the strength of unity and the transformative power of storytelling. The theme "One Voice, Many Stories" was celebrated through speakers who shared their unique experiences, dynamic leadership and development breakouts, and community service activities.  

 

 

TODOS Engages, Empowers and Elevates Youth

In West Dallas, Texas, more than 67 percent of students never complete high school. But for those who participate in the Toyota TODOS E3 Mentoring program, the graduation rate is 100 percent.

ToyotAbility Creates ASL Learning Opportunity 

TMMC's chapter of ToyotAbility hosted three fireside chats on American Sign Language (ASL) for Beginners. These educational sessions shared basic ASL tools and information, helping team members learn new ways to communicate more inclusively.

 



TVA Convenes Leadership Summit

Toyota Veterans Association (TVA) held its annual Leadership Summit on February 13, 2024. Chapters shared updates and kaizens (a Japanese term meaning "continuous improvement") for ultimate yokoten (a Japanese term that refers to the sharing of best practices). The summit also featured inspiring remarks from guest speaker Jessica Lynch, a retired U.S. Army private first class, who in 2003, became the first American prisoner of war to be successfully rescued since World War II. 

 


Spectrum BPG Members Celebrate as Progress Pride Flag Soars Over Toyota

For the first time ever, all Toyota locations flew the Progress Pride Flag for Pride Month in June 2023. The Progress Pride Flag is more inclusive and a better representation of Toyota’s value of respect for people. Chapters of Spectrum (Toyota’s BPG for LGBTQ+ community and allies) also hosted a variety of events across Toyota throughout the month of June.

 

WIIT Elevates STEM Showcase

For Women’s History Month, WIIT hosted an all-chapter awards ceremony with in-person watch parties at all North American chapters. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from guest speaker, Molly Fletcher, about reflecting on what best energizes them and to understand how to be more intentional about their time.

TMMBC Women’s Month Elevates Gender Equality

During the month of March, Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California (TMMBC) celebrated Women’s History Month with a series of events combining all types of experiences: speakers, workshops, videos, panels and more. A mix of in-person and virtual events drew higher participation than last year’s celebration.  

Toyota de Puerto Rico Serves Up Inclusion

For Hispanic Heritage Month 2023, Toyota de Puerto Rico (TDPR) hosted a lunch where team members could taste a variety of delicious dishes from Latin American countries. Both the cuisine and the event itself reflected the inclusivity of TDPR’s culture.
